FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. How do you sell flooring? By the lineal metre or square metre?

We like to give both options on our price labels for carpet and vinyl, because although they still have to be purchased from the manufacturer by the lineal metre, ie: 1 metre off the roll, clients will often know how many square metres of flooring is required. Vinyl plank, laminate and timber are sold by the square metre to the nearest box size.

Q. How quickly can I get my home measured and quoted for flooring?

We can normally measure within 24 hours, with a free colour consult with samples from our mobile vans. We can give indication of cost on site, followed by a quote within 24 hours. We contact our suppliers on a job by job basis to give you the best price possible.

Q. Will my quote be itemised?

We generally give an ‘all in’ final price which can often be discounted for whole houses or larger jobs, but will happily itemise if required.

Q. How much notice do I need to give to get my new flooring installed?

If the flooring you have chosen is in stock in NZ, we can usually have it installed in about 10 days. If you’ve chosen a product from our extensive stock range, we can often do it sooner.

Q. What do we need to do before our flooring is installed?

Ideally if the area can be clear and clean our installers will be able to complete your job in a more timely and efficient manner. We are happy to shift your larger items if required, but you will still need to move smaller items i.e breakables, computers, tv/s, stereos’s, empty bookcases, cabinets and strip beds etc. If we are laying hard flooring it is recommended that toilet pans are removed, dishwashers and stoves will also need to be disconnected by a qualified tradesman.

Q. How long will my flooring take to install?

Depending on the type of flooring laid, it can range from a couple of hours to a couple of days, our sales consultants will give you an indication of timeframe, during our free measure and quote.

Q. What can we expect when our flooring is being laid?

Our installers are professionals and in order for them to complete their job to the highest standard, they may need to use sharp tools and irons. In the interests of keeping everyone safe, please ensure children and pets are kept away from the work areas. Once installation is complete, your flooring will be vacuumed, inspected and all waste removed. Where possible, we try to recycle your old carpet.

Q. Why do you recommend buying all the carpet I need in one go?

All batches of carpets have different dyes and can vary greatly in colour – so if you you are looking to carpet your entire downstairs area for example, but purchase your living area first, with a view to using the same carpet in 6 month’s time for your dining room, you may find that the batches look quite different even though you’ve chosen the same carpet. The best way to purchase carpet is to buy what you need all together and use our promotions and finance offers to help you spread the cost out over time.
